For this year’s twentieth international site-specific project, the creators of Divadlo Continuo decided to work directly in the space where the theater is located, at Plum Yard in Malovice. As part of the renovation of the premises, which was completed exactly one year ago, a space for theatrical production was created in the farmyard, consisting of an enclosed hall surrounded on three sides by two-story galleries for spectators.
The theater performance is being created in collaboration with twenty young people from around the world, students and graduates of art schools, actors, dancers, performers, visual artists, and musicians, under the guidance of members of the theater and directed by the artistic director of the ensemble, Pavel Štourač.
For the theater performance, the courtyard will be transformed into a stylized ship. The theater performance will take place on a dance floor in its center. The audience’s view is part of the original theatrical-architectural design. The audience will watch the action from three sides through windows reminiscent of a cabin view. The technical and artistic design of the performance space itself is also original, allowing the use of special theatrical devices that create a magical and poetic space for the theatrical action.
This visually dynamic performance with a live band, original artistic design, and unique view for the audience also marks the beginning of a new phase for Divadlo Continuo in this specific theatrical genre at the turn of the second decade of its theatrical activities in unconventional spaces.
