Kratochvileni 2005

A dream of flight and wings that always excites a person and forces them to seek ways to overcome the limits of their body.

Continuo traditionally prepared a three-week workshop for invited artists, students, and theater enthusiasts, during which improvisations, acrobatic exercises, and artistic ideas were used to refine the outlines of a specific performance. This year’s theme was man’s age-old desire to fly. Floating platforms and suspended structures for aerial acrobatics were therefore erected on and above the water. Live music is an integral part of every Kratochvílení, and this year’s edition featured the bands Čankišou and Dĺhé diely from Slovakia.

Kratochvílení attracts visitors not only with the nighttime atmosphere of the castle, but also with its spectacular show. Students from the Berlin art school Die Etage prepared acrobatic stunts, and artists led by Helena Štouračová and Kristýna Patková created large puppets, costumes, and flying and floating objects.

„The whole preparation process is a search for a story we don’t know; we only have a theme. This year, it’s the dream of flight and wings, which still excites people and compels them to seek ways to overcome the limitations of the body. This gave rise to improvisations, ideas, and situations, which we used to put together the performance.“ (Pavel Štourač)
