Neighbours

The production Neighbors tells the story of one place over the course of a decade—from 1943 to 1953—and the lives of several people connected to that place. But it also tells the story of the past eighty years in Central Europe.

Continuo Theatre has been located in Malovice, a small village in Southern Bohemia, since 1995. A few years ago we started to collect the life stories of the people living in the neighbourhood of our farmstead. We wanted to find out what the place where we live and work was like. The stories of those who remember much more than we do seemed to be the most natural source of our knowledge and understanding …..
Neighbours is a production which is being created on the basis of interviews with several eyewitnesses who live in the neighbourhood of Continuo Theatre. It is a story of a place during  fifteen years (1938 – 1953) and about lives of several people connected with the place. But it is also a narration of the period of the last 80 years in Central Europe.
