Passing

The street as a metaphor.

The street. It’s like any other. What makes this one so special?

There are hundreds, thousands of them. But just stop and look. The amazing theater of the world begins.

Anonymous faces and figures, and yet so many stories.

The street is a metaphor. For what? Perhaps a journey, perhaps life. It leads from somewhere to somewhere, it begins somewhere, it goes somewhere, and it ends somewhere.

In the course of an hour, dozens of figures, characters, and fragments of human stories pass through this street. Some go unnoticed, some without knowing where they are coming from or where they are going. Some wander, others run away, some don’t want to be here, others are driven away, and still others return. Some pass by without leaving a significant mark, while others change the course of events with their stories.

A visual and movement theater that is both humorous and chilling. Theatrical images full of grotesqueness and sadness blend with everyday street life.

Passing is the third production involving the young members of Studio Continuo, which was founded in 2007 by the theater’s art director, Pavel Štourač.
