The Eighth Day

Three stories about the ambiguity of human existence inspired by the oldest fragments of myths and poetry from the ancient Middle East.

This dramatization of original mythological themes combines elements of physical and puppet theater accompanied by live music. It consists of three stories about the ambiguity of human existence.

On the one hand, it deals with man’s desire for immortality and overcoming his earthly fate; on the other hand, it deals with his constant succumbing to baseness, pettiness, envy, fear, and anger.

The puppet show The Eighth Day is inspired by the oldest written records of human history—fragments of myths from the ancient Near East. Mythical texts of the Sumerians, Akkadians, Hittites, Ugarites, and Israelites refer not only to the beginnings of human civilization, but also to the eternal foundation that forms the essence of the human race, society, and the individual, regardless of time, cultural differences, and historical background.
