The Legend of Prince Philip

„Once upon a time, there was a French king. He was as rich as the sea and as brave as a lion, and he ruled his country well. However, his son did not take after him. He drank and sinned like there was no tomorrow…“

„Once upon a time, there was a French king. He was as rich as the sea and as brave as a lion, and he ruled his country well. However, his son did not take after him. He drank and sinned like there was no tomorrow…“

Thus begins the story of a young French prince who falls out with his father and must set out on a long journey, during which he encounters a fiery dragon, a water monster, but above all himself.

A production with wooden puppets and live music, loosely inspired by Jan Vladislav’s adaptation of the French fairy tale „The Prince with the Black Scarf,“ motifs from medieval legends, Romanesque and Gothic iconography, as well as historical events in France in the 12th and 13th centuries.

The fate of the country lies in the hands of the relationship between one father and one son. If there is not enough will for love and forgiveness, but only violence, then it takes very little for many people to die. Then the father’s destructive curse pursues the fleeing prince, taking on various forms and ravaging the country. In such a situation, forgiveness and purification are the only way out. But who will find the strength to do so?
