…and How He Plowed a Furrow with the Devil

A ballad about the legendary Třeboň fishmonger and Rožmberk regent Jakub Krčín from Jelčany and Sedlčany.

Sometimes, two paths present themselves to a person seeking to achieve their dream goal. One is long and difficult, full of hard work, calluses, and obstacles. The other is shorter and more comfortable, but does not concern itself much with moral principles.

The puppet show about Jakub Krčín is about what happens when a person chooses the second path, how evil turns against its „breadwinner,“ and how to get out of such a vicious circle.

The text of the performance is based on three folk tales about an important builder of South Bohemian ponds who sold his soul to the devil to help him build a superhuman work.
